CONWAY On May 15th teen 4-H members from across Horry County met at the Horry County Memorial Library in Conway to discuss starting a Teen Council.
The meeting was led by Horry County 4-H agent Miracle Rabon.
The meeting started with attendees introducing themselves and sharing their 4-H stories. Then Horry County 4-H Agent Miracle Rabon went over the history of 4-H and Clemson extension and discussed county statistics including that there are 413,391 people who live in Horry County.
After sharing the history and statistics of Horry County 4-H the group discussed their goals for the teen council, two of them being to promote 4-H in the county and unity amongst the members in the county.
The members continued to brainstorm fundraisers, events, and activities the council would be in charge of, one idea being putting on a dance called “Boots and Bling: It’s a 4-H Thing” as a fundraiser.
The attendees discussed the next steps for the council. They voted for a hybrid schedule, meeting once a month every other meeting being on Zoom.
The next meeting will be held June 19th at 5:30 pm over Zoom. At the next meeting members will announce their candidacy for officer positions on the council. Then voting will be held on the July meeting date.
