CLINTON Three York County youth won titles at the 16th Annual South Carolina 4-H Showcase held January 18th at Thornwell Charter School in Clinton.

The annual event hosted by Laurens County 4-H seeks to bring awareness to 4-H and give an outlet for youth to showcase their projects and public speaking skills. Youth compete in several categories including 4-H project attire, formal wear, 4-H spirit attire, an interview and an on-stage question.

Dacy Freeman, age 16, a member of the Goal Minors 4-H Club in York, was crowned South Carolina Miss 4-H Queen.

Freeman kicked off her time as queen with an appearance at the state 4-H horse and communications competitions Feb. 1 in Newberry where she volunteered and presented awards.

Holding the title gives her “a good opportunity to let others’ talents shine through,” Freeman says.

Robinson McDaniel of Clover Middle School 4-H and FFA and Thundering Herd 4-H Club was crowned Miss 4-H Cloverleaf.

York County Cloverbud Jethro Yost was named Mr. 4-H Cloverbud.

Ellie Rose Shaw of Laurens County was crowned Miss Teen, and Annabella Brown of Chester County was crowned Miss Cloverbud. McKenna Limehouse of Lexington County won the People’s Choice award and Jethro Yost was the top fundraiser, according to Laurens County 4-H.

Showcase winners will represent 4-H through outreach and appearances at local and state events throughout the year.
